Kenzo Keith, a young French soccer player, has died at the age of 21 after drowning in the Rhône River. He is part of Guingamp's reserve team, and at the time of the accident he and three friends went into the river to escape the heat, which reached a record 40 degrees Celsius in France. However, he was the only one not found until the end, and although he was rescued by the fire brigade, he died in the hospital. Forty people have died in France from drownings related to the heatwave since last Thursday, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecorne has revealed. Keith joined Guingamp last year after playing in the youth teams of Lyon and Saint-Etienne. Guingamp released a statement on their official SNS saying, ``We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Kenzo Keith, a young player at the club,'' and pledged full support to Keith's family. Saint-Etienne also expressed his condolences: ``The Green Generation is in mourning. He was a resident of the Robert Herbin Sports Center for seven years and was a talented young man who was loved by all.'' Saint-Etienne have announced plans to hold a memorial at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium for the start of next season.
