In a collaboration project between OneFootball and artists, artist Jordan Rakei talks about his home country of New Zealand's World Cup. How did you feel watching New Zealand play against Iran and Egypt? It's a little complicated (lol). It was unfortunate that the match against Iran ended in a draw even though we scored first and took the lead. We wanted to get a win, but we are a lower-ranked team than our opponent, so it's disappointing that we missed out on the win. However, it was the 3-1 loss against Egypt that made us realize reality. After the game against Iran, my expectations were a little high, but they quickly returned to reality. From now on, we have no choice but to beat Belgium, which is a much higher-ranked team. How are you going to win? All we can do is ask Chris Wood to do his best. He has a lot of experience, and this may be his last World Cup, so I think he wants to finish off with a good performance. His presence was outstanding in the match against Iran. Our attacks started to develop from him, so his presence is definitely important. It seems like he hasn't been given many opportunities to play at West Ham, but I think he'll be selected for the national team for the next game. If New Zealand made it through the group stage, who do you think would have played the biggest role? I think it will be Chris Wood after all. If he does his job well, I think we will have a better chance of winning. I understand that you are involved in music activities, but do you have any plans in mind to promote soccer in New Zealand? I haven't really thought about it (lol). My music activities are just for myself, and the rest is for the fans, so I'm not thinking of doing anything to make soccer more exciting. However, as a fan who loves soccer, I have the feeling that I would sacrifice something for soccer. However, I feel like that isn't reflected in my music activities. If your music were to be played at the World Cup, what kind of song would it be? That's a bit of a difficult question (lol). However, I don't think I would be able to create an anthem-like song that everyone could sing along to, like the one that would be played at the World Cup. However, I think it would be possible to create a song that the players could listen to in the locker room after a game to boost their morale. I wish there was a song like that. But I can't create songs that everyone can sing. If anything, I think I can create songs that feature individual players. For example, I think I can create a song themed around Messi or Mbappe. But in the end, I can't create songs that everyone can sing. If New Zealand were to play in the next World Cup, which match would you go to see? Of course, I will go to watch the first match of the group stage. I would also like to watch the quarterfinals if possible. After all, that means New Zealand wins and I can go watch it.
