Reports from England have confirmed that Liverpool have no intention of letting captain Van Dijk go. Despite interest from AC Milan's new manager Ruben Amorim, it looks like it won't materialize. Van Dijk turns 35 next week and his contract at Anfield ends at the end of this season. This theoretically made him a potential transfer at a bargain price, which attracted Milan's director and manager Amorim. However, according to The Athletic's Liverpool correspondent James Pearce, Liverpool are in no way prepared to accept an offer for the captaincy. The appointment of new manager Andoni Iraola will not change things, and Dutch international Van Dijk will remain a dream for the Rossoneri. Van Dijk has been a key figure at Anfield, making 374 appearances for Liverpool since joining from Southampton in January 2018 for €84 million. Instead, Milan are on the verge of securing Mario Gila from Lazio, and negotiations are also underway with Sporting CP defender Gonzalo Inacio.
